Substance Abuse Counselor 

Description

Comprehensive Mental Health Services is looking for a Substance Abuse Counselor for our Renaissance West facility. This position is a Monday - Friday daytime position with the ability to work 1 to 2 evenings a week.

In accordance with agency Mission, Vision, Values and Goals, the Substance Abuse Professional, either Recognized, Registered or Certified, provides ongoing individual and group substance abuse counseling to Adult and Adolescents also provides group education. Provides prevention psychoeducation, generates documentation reflecting clinical necessity which meets program and agency standards. The Substance Abuse Counselor interacts regularly with other staff and treatment providers through multidisciplinary team meetings to provide quality care to individuals with substance abuse issues. Counselors also provide crisis intervention, case management, treatment planning, and reviews and psychoeducational assessments.

 

  • Provides individual & group substance abuse counseling to a case load of assigned clients. Counselors to provide minimum of 26 hours of direct client contact weekly.
  • Provides group education to program participants.
  • Appropriately documents all clinical/program activities according to quality standards.
  • Accurately submits billings for services provided.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings in order to coordinate service delivery to clients.
  • Conducts treatment planning and reviews in clinically appropriate and timely fashion.
  • Participates in and meets ethical/agency standard regarding all treatment and documentation practices. Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement procedures, Utilization Management and program/client outcomes.
  • Serves on agency and community task teams and committees.
  • Follows agency policy and procedures including emergency procedures.

 Requirements

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in social work, psychology, or related human services field from an accredited institution
  • Certification in addictions and a minimum of one year experience working in a substance abuse treatment program
  • Previous experience in group setting with diverse population 
  • Ability to work evenings
