OUTPATIENT SERVICES
There are times in everyone's life when personal problems and challenges can interfere with enjoyment of life. The mission of CMHS's Outpatient Program is to promote positive mental health through the provision of quality outpatient evaluation and treatment programs for people in our community.
Adult and Youth Outpatient Services
Services include assessment, crisis intervention, individual, group and family therapy. Adult services are provided to those ages 17 years and up. Youth services are provided to children and adolescents, ages 5-18, and their families. Serious emotional disturbances and behavioral disorders will be treated as long as the consumer does not need inpatient or residential care. Children must have a means of transportation. With children under six, the focus will be on parenting skills.
Elderly Services
Elder persons may suffer from a range of disorders including adjustment problems and depression to dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Services are tailored to the elderly. These may include consultations, Alzheimer's support groups, community education and/or therapy. In addition we have services for caregivers.
Support Groups
CMHS offers a range of self-help groups that serve those with emotional problems and their family members. Many of these groups are free of charge (see Family Support Groups).

CMHS's therapeutic expectations are that many treatment issues can be resolved with brief, solution-focused therapy. We also recognize that some issues may require long-term therapy, but treatment will be based on incremental stages of improvement. You and your therapist will be working together to achieve your treatment goals in the shortest time possible.
Upon admission to outpatient counseling, you will be assigned a therapist who will tailor your counseling program according to your individual needs and goals. The most frequent schedule is weekly, for one hour. Your program also may include an additional group, Medication Clinic family sessions. Therapy is by appointment with attendance a must for growth and changes to take place. It is important that you participate in your appointment by sharing information and feelings with your counselor. The therapist, in turn, will be offering you feedback and suggestions about your issues.
